This seemed easy at first but memorizing this stuff... arrrrggggh.

ippon no ude: One arm.
nihon no ude: Two arms.
sambon no ude: Three arms.

yubi ga roppon arimasu ka. iie, yonhon arimasu: Are there six fingers? No, there are four.
ude ga sambon arimasu ka. iie, yonhon arimasu: Are there three arms? No, there are four.
ashi ga yonhon arimasu ka. hai, arimasu: Are there four legs? Yes, there are.
yubi ga roppon arimasu ka. iie, gohon arimasu: Are there six fingers? No, there are five.

uma no ashi: Horse legs.
hito no ude: Human arms.
zoo no ashi: Elephant legs.
hito no ashi: Human legs.

kare no atama wa ude no ue ni notte imasu: His head is on his arms.
kanojo no ryoote wa hiza no ue ni notte imasu: Both of her hands are on her knees.

(once again, no good at the "true" translations of these things...)

kyooshi wa seeto tachi ni oshiete imasu: The teacher is teaching the group of pupils.
seeto tachi wa hon o yonde imasu: The group of pupils is reading a book. (more literal here, could just say 'The students are reading books.')

onnanohito wa onaka ga suite imasu: The woman is hungry. (suite = empty? I simplified this sentence rather than taking it literally.)
otokonohito wa onaka ga suite imasu: The man is hungry.
onnanohito wa onaka ga ippai desu: The woman is full.

karera wa samui desu: They are cold.
karera wa atsui desu: They are hot.
kare wa samui desu: He is cold.
kare wa atsui desu: He is hot.

kanojo wa tsukarete imasu: She is tired.
konojo wa tsukarete imasen: She is not tired.

Hm.. I wish I had my own personal native Japanese-speaker to explain to me what I don't quite get yet. The good news is, I have learned a lot.

haiiro no sakana ga nihiki oyoide imasu: Two gray fish are swimming.

shiroi inu ga aruite imasu: The white dog is walking.
neko ga aruite imasu: The cat is walking.

kangaruu: kangaroo
yagi no mure: group/herd of goats.
ushi no mure: group/herd of cows.
ushi ga nitoo hashitte imasu: The two cows are running.

hitsuji ga takusan tatte imasu: Many sheep are standing.
raion: lion
ippiki no kame: One turtle.
kuroi hakuchoo: Black swan. (spelled hakucho in romaji)

tori ga tonde imasu: A bird is flying.
hakuchoo (hakucho): Swan
tori wa suwatte imasu: A bird is sitting.

nihiki no buta: Two pigs.

(just a guess, but i think nitoo is referencing a pair of big animals and nihiki is referencing smaller ones. Same for ittoo/ippiki)
