onnanohito wa booto ni norikonde imasu: The woman is boarding the boat.
otokonohito wa mizu kara dete iru tokoro desu: The man is coming forth from the water.
otokonohito wa mizu kara deta tokoro desu: The man has come forth from the water.
otokonohito wa mizu kara deru tokoro desu: The man will come forth from the water.

otokonohito to onnanohito wa yubisashite imasu: The man and woman are pointing.
onnanohito wa dochira mo yubisashite imasu: Both women are pointing.
hidari no otokonoko ga yubiashite imasu: The boy on the left is pointing.
hitori no onnanohito ga yubisashite ite, moo hitori no onnanohito wa yubisashite imasen: One woman is pointing, the other woman is not.

[Note: I learned that verbs like "ageru", when written "ageyoo" or "ageyou", count as the volitional form. This means someone is about to do something or that they are trying to do something.]
otokonohito wa tako o agete imasu: The man is flying a kite.
otokonohito wa tako o ageyoo to shite imasu: The man is about to fly a kite.
tako ga mittsu jimen ni arimasu: There are three kites on the ground.
otokonoko wa tako o agete imasu: The boy is flying a kite.

otokonoko wa shita o mite imasu: The boy is looking down.
otokonoko wa ue o mite imasu: The boy is looking up.
piero wa shita o mite imasu: The clown is looking down.
piero wa ue o mite imasu: The clown is looking up.

akai shatsu no otokonohito ga tako o agete imasu: The boy in the red shirt is flying a kite.
otokonoko wa koppu kara nomi nagara, tako o agete imasu: The boy is drinking from a cup while flying a kite.
otokonohito wa ushi no kuchi o akeyoo to shite imasu: The man is trying to open the cow's mouth.
otokonohito wa tako o ageyoo to shite imasu: The man is trying to fly a kite.

aoi fuku no otokonoko ga doro o butsuke rareru tokoro desu: The boy wearing blue will be hit by mud.
otokonoko wa doro o butsuke rareta tokoro desu: The boy was hit with mud.
otokonohito wa hataraite imasu: The man is working (hataraku = to work).
otokonohito wa hataraite imasen: The man is not working.

otoosan wa musuko tachi ni hon o yonde imasu: The father is reading a book to his sons.
otoosan wa musuko tachi to issho ni hataraite imasu: The father is working with his sons.
otoosan wa katate ni shaberu o motte, moo ippoo no te ni hon o motte imasu: The father is holding a shovel in one hand and a book in the other hand.
otoosan wa inu ni hon o yonde imasu: The father is reading a book to the dog.

uma wa hataraite imasu: The horses are working.
uma wa hataraite imasen: The horses are not working.
otoosan wa yubisashite imasu: The father is pointing.
otoosan to otokonoko tachi wa hataraite imasu: The father and boys are working.

otokonoko tachi wa kumade o hippatte imasu: The boys are pulling the rake.
otokonoko wa hotte imasu: The boy is digging.
shiroi fuku no otokonoko ga kumade o ukeotte imasu (uketomeru = to catch): The boy in white is catching the rake.
aoi fuku no otokonoko ga kumade o uketotte imasu: The boy in blue is catching the rake.

onnanoko wa uma ni hoshikusa o yaru tokoro desu: The girl will give the horse hay.
onnanoko wa uma ni hoshikusa o yatte imasu: The girl is giving the horse hay.
onnanoko wa uma ni hoshikusa o yatta imasu: The girl gave the horse hay.
kaubooi wa ushi ni hoshikusa o yaru tokoro desu: The cowboy will give the cow hay.
