Japanese Unit 7 Lesson 5

hana wa shiroi desu: The flowers are white.
hana wa akai desu: The flowers are red.
hana wa kiiroi desu: The flowers are yellow.
hana wa aoi desu: The flowers are blue.

hana wa minna shiroi desu: The flowers are all white.
hana wa minna akai desu: The flowers are all red.
hana wa minna kiiroi desu:
The flowers are all yellow.
hana wa minna aoi desu: The flowers are all blue.

ikutsuka no hana wa shiroi desu: A few of the flowers are white.
ikutsuka no hana wa aoi desu: A few of the flowers are blue.
nanmaika no sara wa kiiroi desu: Some of the plates are yellow.
nanninka ga booshi o kabutte imasu: Some people are wearing hats.

ikutsuka no hana wa kiirokute, ikutsuka no hana wa shiroi desu: A few of the flowers are yellow, a few of the flowers are white.
ikutsuka no hana wa kiirokute, ikutsuka no hana wa aoi desu: A few of the flowers are yellow, a few of the flowers are blue.
ikutsuka no ringo wa akakute, ikutsuka no ringo wa midori desu: A few of the apples are red, a few of the apples are green.
nanninka ga onnanohito de, nanninka ga otokonohito desu: Some of the people are women, some of the people are men.

hotondo no hito wa booshi o kabutte imasu ga, hitori wa kabutte imasen: Most of the people are wearing hats, one person is not.
hotondo no hana wa shiroi desu ga, ikutsuka wa kiiroi desu: Most of the flowers are white, a few are yellow.
hana no hotondo wa akai desu ga, kuroi tokoro mo arimasu: The flower is mostly red, with a black spot.
hana no hotondo wa akai desu ga, kiiroi tokoro mo arimasu: The flower is mostly red, with a yellow spot.

doobutsu wa dochiramo uma desu: Both of the animals are horses.
hana wa dochiramo shirokute kiiroi desu: Both of the flowers are white and yellow.
kodomo tachi wa dochiramo onnanoko desu: The children are both girls.
tori wa dochiramo ahiru desu: Both birds are ducks.

doobutsu wa dochiramo uma desu: Both the animals are horses.
doobutsu wa dochiramo uma dewa arimasen: Neither of the animals are horses.
kodomo tachi wa dochiramo onnanoko desu: The children are both girls.
kodomo tachi wa dochiramo onnanoko dewa arimasen: Neither of the children are girls.

ikutsuka no hana wa akai desu: A few of the flowers are red.
dono hana mo akaku arimasen: None of the flowers are red. (I don't understand the grammar here.)
ahiru no ichiwa wa shiroi desu: One of the ducks is white (ichiwa = one bird).
dono ahiro mo shiroku arimasen: None of the birds are white.

ikutsuka no hana wa kiirokute, hoka wa aoi desu: A few of the flowers are yellow, the rest are blue.
hana wa minna kiiroi desu: All of the flowers are yellow.
ichiwa no ahiro wa atama ga shirokute, moo ichiwa wa atama ga midori desu: One of the duck's heads is white, the other duck's head is green.
ahiru wa minna atama ga kuroi desu: All of the duck's heads are black.

dochira no hito mo yubisashite imasu: Both of the people are pointing.
dochira no hito mo yubisashite imasen: Neither of the people are pointing.
hitori wa yubisashite imasu ga, moo hitori wa yubisashite imasen: One of the people is pointing, the other one is not.
ippoo no doobutsu wa tori desu ga, moo ippoo wa tori dewa arimasen: One of the animals is a bird, the other one is not.
