Japanese Unit 3 Lesson 7

Unit 3 Lesson 7
otokonohito wa onaka ga ippai desu: The man's stomach is full. (onaka = stomach).
onnanohito wa onaka ga suite imasu: The woman is hungry. (suite = empty? I simplified this sentence rather than taking it literally.)
otokonohito wa onaka ga suite imasu: The man is hungry.
onnanohito wa onaka ga ippai desu: The woman is full.

karera wa samui desu: They are cold.
karera wa atsui desu: They are hot.
kare wa samui desu: He is cold.
kare wa atsui desu: He is hot.

kanojo wa tsukarete imasu: She is tired.
konojo wa tsukarete imasen: She is not tired.
karera wa tsukarete imasu: They are tired.
karera wa tsukarete imasen: They are not tired.

kare wa chikara ga tsuyoi desu: He is strong. (chikara = ability?, tsuyoi = strong).
kare wa chikara ga yowai desu: He is weak.
karera wa tsukarete imasen: They are not tired.
karera wa atsukute tsukarete imasu: They are hot and tired.

otokonohito wa byookoi desu: The man is sick(?).
otokonohito wa kenkoo desu: The man is healthy.
tori wa utsukushii desu: The bird is beautiful.
tori wa minikui desu: The bird is ugly.

otokonohito wa onaka ga ippai dewa arimasen: The man is not full.
otokonohito wa onaka ga suite imasen: The man is not hungry.
onnanohito wa onaka ga ippai dewa arimasen: The woman is not full.
onnanohito wa onaka ga suite imasen: The woman is not hungry.

otokonoko to inu wa yorokonde imasu: The boy and the dog are happy(?).
otokonoko to inu wa kanashinde imasu: The boy and the dog are sad.
otokonohito wa yorokonde imasu: The man is happy.
onnanohito wa kanashinde imasu: The woman is sad.

karera wa tsukarete imasu: They are tired.
kanojo wa tsukarete imasu. kare wa tsukarete imasen: She is tired. He is not tired.
kare wa tsukarete imasu. karera wa tsukarete imasen: He is tired. They are not tired.
kare wa tsukarete imasu. kanojo wa tsukarete imasen. He is tired. She is not.

kare wa byooki desu: He is sick.
kare wa nodo ga kawaite imasu: He is thirsty (nodo=throat, kawaite =?)
kare wa samui desu: He is cold.
kare wa kanemochi desu: He is a rich man.

darekha ga nodo ga kawaite imasu: Someone is thirsty.
dareka ga onaka ga suite imasu: Someone is hungry.
hitobito wa atsuku arimasen: Everyone is not cold. (hitobito = each person, everyone).
hitobito wa atsukute tsukarete imasu: Everyone is hot and tired.


Hm.. I wish I had my own personal native Japanese-speaker to explain to me what I don't quite get yet. The good news is, I have learned a lot.
