Japanese Unit 4 Lesson 11

This was only a review of previously learned things, but I took a long time learning it by
1: Closing my eyes and repeating everything that was said.
2. Closing my eyes and saying the answer before I saw the choices.
3. Reading every answer out before choosing the correct one.

I think this really assisted me in seeing where I make grammar mistakes. Breaking longer sentences/phrases down without looking also helped me realize some grammar stuff. Someone is going to send me a book with writing lessons in it soon. I just don't want to use Rosetta for that really.

otokonohito wa nani o shite imasu ka. nonde imasu: What is the man doing? Drinking.

ryoote to ryooashi wa hanarete imasu: Both hands and legs are apart.
ryoote to ryooashi wa soroete imasu: Both hands and legs are together.
ryooashi wa hanarete imasu ga, ryoote wa awasete arimasu: Both legs are apart, both hands are together (still don't really know the diff between awaseru & soroeru, even after defining them).
ryooashi wa soroete arimasu ga, ryoote wa hanarete imasu: Both legs are together, both hands are apart.

Note: Why use arimasu sometimes and imasu others? Must be a grammar thing I don't understand yet.
