Japanese Unit 5 Lesson 3

onnanoko wa tonde imasu: The girl is jumping.
onnanoko wa aruite imasu: The girl is walking.
onnanoko wa notte imasu: The girl is riding.
onnanoka wa waratte imasu: The girl is laughing.

otokonoko wa tobu tokoro desu: The boy will jump.
otokonoko wa korobisoudesu: The boy looks like he's going to trip. (?)
otokonoko wa taberu tokoro desu: The boy will eat.
otokonoko wa jitensha ni noru tokoro desu: The boy will ride the bike.

onnanohito wa tobimashita: The woman jumped.
onnanohito wa hikidashi o akemashita: The woman opened the register. (akeru = open)
onnanohito wa booru o nagemashita: The woman threw the ball. (nageru = throw)
onnanohito wa nemutte imasu: The woman is sleeping.

onnanohito to otokonohito wa dakiau tokoro desu: The woman and man will hug.
otokonohito to onnanohito wa dakiatte imasu: The man and woman are hugging.
kore wa Pikaso no sakuhin desu: This is Piccaso's work.
kore wa Pikaso no sakuhin dewa arimasen: This is not Piccaso's work.

tori wa oyoide imasu: The bird is swimming.
tori wa tonde imasu: The bird is flying.
tori wa aruite imasu: The bird is walking.
tori wa hane o patapata ugokashite imasu ga, tonde wa imasen: The bird is flapping its wings, not flying. (ugokasu = move ?... what is patapata?)

inu wa furisubii o kyatchi suru tokoro desu: The dog will catch the frisbee.
inu wa furisubii o kyatchi shimashita: The dog caught the frisbee.
inu wa booshi o hiroiageru tokoro desu: The dog will pick up the hat.
inu wa booshi o hiroiagemashita. The dog picked up the hat.

uma wa tobimashita: The horse jumped.
uma wa kaubooi o se kara furiotoshimashita: The horse threw the cowboy off? (kara = from? se = ?)
uma wa ue e aruite ikimashita: The horse walked over?
uma wa shita e aruite ikimashita: The horse walked behind.

kodomo tachi wa teeburu kara tobioriru tokoro desu: The children will jump from the table.
kodomo tachi wa teeburu kara tobiorite imasu: The children are jumping from the table.
kodomo tachi wa teeburu kara tobiorimashita: The children jumped from the table.
kodomo tachi wa teeburu no mawari aruite imasu: The children are walking around the table.

shiroi shatsu o kita otokonohito wa kabe o noboru tokoro desu: The man wearing the white shirt will climb the wall.
shiroi shatso o kita otokonohito wa kabe o nobotte imasu: The man wearing the white shirt is climbing the wall.
rakuda wa kuchi o akeru deshoo
: The camel will probably open its mouth. (deshou means probably here? I don't know...)
rakuda wa kuchi o akemashita: The camel opened it's mouth.

otokonohito wa keetaidenwa o tsukau tokoro desu. poketto kara dashite imasu: the man will use use the phone. He is taking it out of (from) his pocket.
otokonohito wa keetaidenwa o tsukatte imasu: The man is using the phone.
otokonohito wa keetaidenwa o motte imasu ga, tsukatte wa imasen. The manis holding the phone, not using it.
otokonohito wa akai denwa o tsukatte imasu: The man is using a red phone.

This lesson was really tiring and took a long time. More grammar stuff I don't get. I am also feeling sad that I'm learning so much romaji. People look down on it. I don't know. :[

hey! Im also learning rosetta stones online japanese course and Im glad that Im roughly where you are at now. Your notes helped me in lots of ways, so i hope i'd be able to help u clear up some doubts u have here. 1.kara = from 2.se = body 3.patapata is something like 'fluttering.'Its an action that doesn't really have much defination though. 4.deshoo/deshou = isnt it(in questions) or will/would in non-questional terms. [e.g Sore ga ai deshou? would mean thats called love isnt it? for this lesson rakuda wa kuchi o akeru deshou. i.e the camel will open its mouth] This is a pretty hard lesson, but dont give up:) Maybe u should start on hiragana first if u haven, because it is pretty vital in Japanese language. I try to do hiragana as much as possible, but turn to romanji once in a while for speed.
