Japanese Unit 5 Lesson 8

I've been slow the past few days because I found particular parts of this lesson so damn hard. I still don't understand some things.

teeburu wa kagu desu:
The table is furniture
isu wa kagu desu: The chair is furniture
beddo wa kagu desu: The bed is furniture
sofaa wa kagu desu: The sofa is furniture

[Note: In the following four, I had a lot of trouble understanding what "tame" was. Visually, it looks like it is a piece of grammar that basically means "for", but that's not the definition I get when I look it up. I'm going to leave it as for for now. ]

teeburu to isu wa kagu desu:
The table and chairs are furniture
tsukue to isu wa kagu desu: The desk and chair are furniture
beddo wa neru tame no kagu desu: The bed is furniture for sleeping.
sofaa wa suwaru tame no kagu desu: the sofa is furniture for sitting.

[Note: "irui" is clothes, "oku" is interior]

teeburu wa kagu desu:
The table is furniture.
isu wa kagu desu: The chairs are furniture
benchi wa suwaru tame no kagu desu: The bench is furniture for sitting.
kenshoo dansu wa irui o orite oku tame no kagu desu: The dresser is furniture for putting clothes inside.

dorseu wa irui desu: The dress is clothes
jaketto wa irui desu: The jacket is clothes
shatsu to nekutai wa irui desu: The shirt and tie are clothes
kodomo tachi no irui: Children's clothes

piero wa fuku o kiteiru tokoro desu: The clown is putting clothes on.
piero wa fuku o kite imasu: The clown is wearing clothes.
onnanohito wa fuku o kiteiru tokoro desu: The woman is putting clothes on.
onnanohito wa fuku o kite imasu: The woman is wearing clothes.

kono hito tachi wa seesoo shite imasu: These people are dressed up. [Note: "seesoo" is "seiso"... took me about 10 mins to figure this out.]
kono hito tachi wa kaubooi no kakkoo o shite imasu: This group... is all dressed as cowboys? [ I have no idea what kakkoo means. "kakko" means everyone. ]
kono hito tachi wa suiee o suru tame no kakkoo o shite imasu: This group of people is all dressed to swim?
kono hito tachi wa piero no kakkoo o shite imasu: This group of peopls is dressed up like clowns?

otokonohito wa sakkusu o mochi nagara, denshipiano o ensoo shite imasu: The man is holding the saxophone while performing on the electric piano.
gitaa wa gakki desu: The guitar is an instrument.
biorin wa gakki desu: The violin is an instrument.
furutto wa gakki desu: The flute is an instrument.

[Note: Playing a stringed instrument, a guitar, or a piano gets the verb "hiku". ]

dareka ga ereki beesu o hiite imasu: Someone is playing the electric bass.
dareka ga furuuto o fuite imasu: Someone is playing the flute.
dareka ga denshipiano o hitte imasu: Someone is playing the piano.
dareka ga taiko o tataite imasu: Someone is striking the drum. [Note: I think "tataku" is the verb they are using here]

furuuto o motte iru otokonohito ga ensoo shite ite, taiko o tataku hito ga kiite imasu: The man holding the flute is performing, the person playing the drum is listening.
otokonohito wa nihon no gitaa o motte imasu: The man is holding two guitars.
dareka ga gitaa o hiite imasu: Someone is playing the guitar.
kodomo tachi wa piano o hiite imasu:
The children are playing the piano.

ikutsuka no kagu: Some furniture
irui: Clothes
ikutsuka no gakki: Some instruments
hitotsu no kagu: One piece of furniture
